Eight Magazine

Just ordered in some back issues of Eight magazine - for more info check out their website here

EIGHT magazine is a young contemporary art magazine dedicated to bringing the best and most exciting artists to a new audience. Each issue holds a specific theme, for which eight artists are invited to make an exclusive artwork. These artworks are printed full page on a 30 by 40 cm format. Hereby giving the artwork the full attention it deserves. Each page of the magazine can be used as a poster or can be framed to fit your house.

Year 1 - Self-employment and invoicing group exercise

As part of the Professional Practice module - Year 1 students are engaged in a role playing exercise as  a potential client commissioning a piece of artwork from an illustrator. Students in the role of the 'client' were asked to investigate appropriate job commissions to include; costing, deadline, copyright and licensing etc  - they then swapped around with the 'illustrator role' accepting the commission and subsequently presenting an appropriately completed invoice.

Third year auction gets well underway...

The third years fund raiser left us with our sides well & truly aching last night thanks to the fantastic (and frantic) antics of our very own Jack Viant.  Let's not ignore Suzanne & Leah for their role in preventing the evening descending into chaos!  Their print auction raised over £500 - huge thanks to all who supported them and went home with a treat.  Well done everyone - just had the best night with you all

Interview with Tristan on PCA website...

No Brow Free App

Those clever people at Nobrow press have created the Nobrow Comics App for iPad.. available now for free from the Apple store.

The free app lets you buy comics – and for a limited time you can get four classic (ie older) works for free: Ben Newman's Ouroboros, Luke Pearson's Hildafolk (above), Jon McNaught's Birchfield Close and the first Artist’s Mini Bundle.

Another neat thing about the app is that it lets the viewer discover the original sketches underneath the fully coloured finished version. It's a great example of promoting comics and illustration through new digital mediums.

Je Suis Charlie

Jean Julien

The 7th of January 2015 was a sad day for free expression and for satirical comic art.

At the same time it has been an amazing and important time for illustrators and artists showing solidarity around the world and by sharing images through social media expressing what many of us were feeling. The BBC and It's Nice That have today been reviewing some of the responses.
